Wished for and most welcome

Why Do I Do This?

Why do I find myself doing the same things to others that were done to me by my father that I swore to myself I would never do?

What we know is not who we are. Our experiences with and from our family of origin often becomes what we know and most often has little to do with who we are. If you could spend a few moments figuring out specifically what these reactions are that you are repeating and identify who and when they are from, this will assist you in checking in with yourself, in your now. A good clue is that if you have a big reaction to someone or something this then becomes a wonderful indicator of two important things. One is that it probably has nothing to do with your now and more importantly you are disconnected from yourself when this is occurring. When we are disconnected from ourselves we subconsciously create a gap between who we are and where we are and how we feel. It is these moments of disconnection where we allow ourselves to go into reaction mode and come undone. When we are connected to ourselves or what I like to think of as hooked up to ourselves we naturally remain true to who we are. Their is nothing that we feel is important enough to react to when we are connected to ourselves. The next time this occurs ask yourself those two questions. Remember What we know from our family origin is not who we are.
